Hello, I'm Rebecca.
I'm a mom. An activist. A perpetual volunteer. I'm the keeper of family records and sentimental things.
I am ridiculously sentimental and I believe strongly in preserving memories and filling our spaces with images and objects that have feeling and meaning. My favorite coffee mug belonged to my mother. I have a collection of necklaces made of beads and macaroni that are as special to me as any other jewelry. I keep a rotating collection of my kids' art on one wall, and about a million photos of them scattered around.
As I said to a friend recently about the photos around my home, "that's my heart there on the wall". Some objects are just things, and others tell our story. I love filling my home with those things that remind me of the people and places I love. If that's you too, we will be a great fit.
Like so many, photography became a passion as I have raised my young kids. I lost my mother when I was 18 and still a kid myself. When I became a mom, I knew I needed to make and preserve memories for my children, to make sure they can always, no matter what life throws at them, see and feel my love. My kids adore looking through photos of themselves and of our family, and I love listening to their chatter as they remember things (or make up remembering some things).
I value the connections I see between people so much more than having everyone look straight ahead at the camera with a fakey smile. I fact, I will spend lot of time during our session reminding your family *not* to look at me. I want you to look at each other, make each other laugh, hug and dance and play and have the best time together.
I super love telling stories through photos. Ages and stages of your family, important events, that time the whole extended family was together, even the little moments of everyday life with our pets, in our homes and gardens--it all tells a story. Your story is absolutely worth telling.
My girls are growing up way too fast, and I know your children are too. I understand how kids are, (and *sometimes* how we wish they could be!). I like to keep things relaxed and embrace the beauty of reality. I appreciate all variety of families and all who you have in your life. Catch it while you can!
